Jubilee Celebrations at Duxford Primary School
The school was awash with red, white and blue. Children and staff came to school dressed in it, bunting swung from trees, flags were stuck in cup cakes and table cloths covered the refreshment table as we invited parents in to school for the afternoon to watch our Jubilee inspired sharing assembly.
After a street party themed picnic lunch, we all met on the school field. Each class had been given a decade of the Queen’s reign to focus their performance on.
Reception had the 1980s and told us facts from the era and reminded us of the fashion and Rubik Cubes.
Year 1 had the 2000s and performed the Cha Cha slide dance.
Year 2 had the 1970s and performed the YMCA – a real crowd pleaser!
Year 3 were news reporters for Duxford TV and took us through some of the main events of the 2010s.
Year 4 were given the 1950s and performed – with audience participation – the Hand Jive.
Year 5 showed some Banksy inspired jubilee artwork from the 1990s
Year 6 became 1960’s fashion designers. They talked about the style of the era and showed us some of their designs.
