Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you all had a relaxing and fun filled summer. I am really looking forward to the year ahead in our brand-new classroom!
For the first two weeks of term we will be reading the ‘colour monster’ and focusing on our emotions and how to express them. We will then be moving onto writing poems using the ‘puffin book of fantastic poems’. In Geography we will be learning about our local area and how to read simple maps. In science we will be learning about materials and their properties.
This term P.E. will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children will still be required to attend school in PE Kit on these days. Please ensure that your child/ children have appropriate P.E. kit and that, for health and safety reasons, earrings are removed for P.E and that anyone with hair longer than shoulder length has their hair tied back.
Please ensure children bring a named bottle of water to drink during the day and that all uniform is named to avoid things getting lost.
Children will have an optional home learning task each half term along with details of required home learning tasks. In year 1 and 2, children are expected to read for 30 minutes a week. A reminder on how to use the Rhino reader books will be sent out soon. Year ones are also expected to complete 30 minutes of numbots a week (passwords for this will be sent out in the coming weeks). Year twos are expected to complete 30 minutes of timetables rockstars (passwords for this will also be sent out in the coming weeks). There are also learning resources for a variety of subjects on Starz if you wish to do some additional work with your child/ children.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office or at the door at drop off or pick up. I am excited to begin the new school year and see what we can achieve as Starling class.
Kind regards,
Miss Jessica Ansell
