Welcome

This is a welcoming, happy school where pupils are helpful, considerate and respectful of each other. Relationships and attitudes are positive and an environment exists in which working and learning becomes an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for all pupils through the staff’s hard work and dedication. Exciting opportunities for learning are offered both throughout the school day and beyond. At all times we strive for the highest standards in all areas of a rich curriculum for our children using the fantastic space inside and outside classrooms.

The whole school community were involved in the words that sum up what we want from our school and where we want to be and this is reflected in our new Aims and Values with our motto of 'Aim High....Fly High!'

We hope you will enjoy browsing our website to see all the exciting activities the children take part in and to find out important information about the school.

School Council Interview with
Mrs Blackburne-Maze and Miss Medley

When you were young, what did you want to be?

Miss Medley – I wanted to be a PE teacher when I was at school as that was my favourite subject. Then I decided that I’d prefer to teach all subjects in primary school.

Mrs Blackburne-Maze – I wanted to be a police officer so that I could keep everyone safe. I also wanted to drive fast cars.

When did you start being a teacher?

Miss Medley - I became a teacher straight after university. I worked at Abbey Meadows school in Cambridge before I came here. I have worked here since 2016.

Mrs Blackburne-Maze – I worked as a translator when I finished university, then I helped unemployed people find training and employment. I trained to be a teacher when my 3 sons were little and I have worked at this school for 20 years.

If you were to rename the school, what would you call it?

We both like the name Duxford Church of England Community Primary School because it tells everyone where our school is. We especially like the word ‘Community’ as it shows that our school is for everyone. Our link to the Diocese of Ely is important to us and we really enjoy working with Revd Lydia.

If you could describe yourself in 1 word, what would it be?

Miss Medley -  ambitious – I am ambitious for the year ahead

Mrs Blackburne-Maze -  excited – I am excited about the year ahead

Would you prefer to be a joint Headteacher or just on your own?

Miss Medley – I’m enjoy working part time so that I can still be at home to help my children.

Mrs Blackburne-Maze – The past 3 years in school have been extremely busy due to Covid, the school fire and the new building work. I am looking forward to having time to relax and look after my grandson when I work part time. I’m also looking forward to helping Miss Medley in her new role.

What’s your favourite colour?

Miss Medley  orange

Mrs Blackburne-Maze pink
